I don't think there's any doubt now that had Heater not been injured at the end of last season he would have been bought out. I also think that's a huge mitigating factor in why he's had such a poor showing so far this season.

We hadn't seen the pouting side of Heatley before this season. I believe now we are all a witness to it. I'm guessing that once he was aware of Fletchers plans to buy him out he decided he was going to play that spoiled bit role once again that he has endulged in a couple of times throughout his career when someone in an organization crosses him.

The only thing that puzzles me and I'm sure everyone else as well is that he's ultimately playing for his next contract. At this point it's going to be quite a shock to his bank account if he doesn't start looking like he can still play this game. He'll be lucky to get better than a one year deal at this point for maybe $1.5 - $2 million tops. It's one thing to have diminishing skills but to add malcontentness to the mix, who the hell is going to take a flyer on that poop?

The effort and give a Sh*T has been so absent. Sure his skating and fitness are clear issues but he floats near blue line and gives near nothing in the way checking either. He has Wild leveraged and has made clear he is not interested in much more than cherry picking padding stats.

I know, I started watching him closely during a stretch of games about a week or two ago. He gives an entirely new meaning to the term "wage criminal". He's just going through the motions for the most part of every shift. Unless of course he happens to get the puck on his stick and even then he normally doesn't have it very long before he turns it over. Several times I see him (behind the play, always behind the play) and he tries to throw some meaningless and completely benign hit on someone. It's utterly laugable. The complete lack of effort is so painfully obvious that it's actually funny to a point.

I dunno, he must know something that we don't, because I've never seen a player in a contract year purposely not even try and end up with a new fat contract somewhere. It's really sad that his teammates are not calling him out. I expect the Parise's, Suter's and Koivu's of the team to use those leadership capabilities to make him aware of their discontent for his efforts or lacktherof...

I think Parise, Koivu, and Suter just leave it alone. Dany is out for DDana. Its Yeo's job and responsibility to limit the damage Heatley does.

True, but it has to be frustrating for those guys watching the fruits of their own labors turn to poop because he doesn't give a poop.

After what he did to Ottawa there's no way I would have wanted this guy on my team. He proved he was a cancer then.

Maybe they think they can trade him at the deadline. I don't know what the guy can still do but if they could get him to one time shots on the PP, someone might give something for him to be a PP specialist.

Look forward to waking up and seeing the Wild lost after a 2-0 lead. This team is so mind(frank)ed it's pathetic

I told my wife tonight I had to be in the building at the X because I felt it was that important. The Wild outplayed the Hawks all night and almost got jobbed by the Zebras. Hossa was clearly offsides before his laser past Harding. Can explain how quiet it was in the X all night until Marca Scandella scored the winner. Even when Brodin tied it the fans myself included were hedging for let down.

Huge Win for Wild Great Night in Saint Paul
